Conversations with Dr. Fred Danker
Five Thursdays
April 3, 10, 17, 24 and May 1
9:00am

Dr. Fred Danker is a retired seminary teacher and one of the world's preeminent New Testament scholars who singlehandedly revised the standard lexicon of the Greek New Testament. In the class Dr. Danker applies his mastery of Greek literature to the big questions about faith such as, "Who is God?", " How does God operate?", "How did the Mediterranean world of the New Testament understand God?", and "How do we translate that into today's world?". A required text for the course which may be purchased at the class for $40.00 is "Benefactor: Epgraphic Study of a Graeco-Roman and New Testament Semantic Field." This book is a readable and comprehensible study of the Greek origin of some of the key words in Christian theology. Sessions dismiss at 11:30am. Tuition is $68.00.

Complacency of Silence: Darfur
May 23
8:00pm

Complacency of Silence: Darfur is an original play about the humanitarian crisis in Darfur, Sudan.  Described by many as a genocide, more than 400,000 men, women and children have been killed and over 2 1/2 million people displaced.  The play puts a human face on the victims of this province and challenges our complacency.  The playwright, Lee Patton Chiles, developed the play based on interviews with Darfur refugees, aid workers and experts on the crisis.
